What if my print or ebook is already on Amazon?
Wonderful. If you are a U.S., U.K., Canada or Ireland resident with a bank account and Tax I.D. information in that country (and you are the Rights Holder of you book), the process is VERY simple to “grab” your title from Amazon.com…and bring it over to the Amazon-owned, on-line audiobook production portal, called ACX.
What if my print or ebook is NOT on Amazon, but I’d like it to be there?
No problem. No matter where you are in the world, EarBliss can help you get your book onto Amazon (and if desired, into the Amazon self-publishing audiobook portal, ACX).
Do you have customer service?
Of course! We’re here and available to answer your questions via email and phone.
Can I voice my own book?
Absolutely. Many authors have a strong desire to bring their own words to life. EarBliss can help you (very reasonably!) set up technically industry-standard, professional level recording conditions in your home or office–and coach you remotely via Zoom, Skype, Facetime, etc. (Don’t want to record from home or office? We offer the same guidance/supervision if you prefer to go to a recording studio in your area, and will be available to both coach you live and work with those studios professionals “before-during-after” your sessions.) And, in some situations, EarBliss can travel to your location to be “on the ground and in-studio” with you, during production.
Do you offer a payment plan?
We do. Typically, EarBliss asks for 50% of the estimated cost of the audiobook on start, and the balance on completion. (“Estimated” because while our “Per Finished Hour” (PFH) rate is fixed, the length of the audiobook is only calculated once all files are fully completed/approved, and those times are quite literally added together. In general, 9,500 words equals one hour of spoken material–but this varies according to narrator and rights holder preferences on pacing.) In certain cases, we do offer a “pay over time” option for Rights Holders. Please talk with us if that’s a match to your needs.
How do I choose my narrator?
We will talk with you in depth about your book and what kind of sound you might desire–and send you a collection of narrator samples that meet your wishes. You choose your favorite.
Can you market and publicize my book?
EarBliss is focused on producing brilliant, superior-quality audiobook files for you, your listeners and the marketplace. While marketing and publicity near-future offerings, we currently partner with an excellent audiobook-specific marketing and PR company. All EarBliss clients receive their generous “Friends and Family” discounted rates; please inquire if you’d like to know more.
I’m outside of the U.S., how would this work for me?
There are lots of options. Much of it depends on where you are located, who owns the audiobook rights, and where you’d like to sell you audiobooks (i.e. Amazon-Audible-iTunes exclusively? There, and on your own website, too? With other distributors in the U.S. or in your country?). Please email us with your particular needs, and we will respond with options tailored to your situation. (If your book or ebook is already present on the Amazon system and you’d like to go into the Amazon-iTunes-Audible marketplace, EarBliss can open that door for you. Contact us for details.)
How long will it take to produce my audiobook?
Here’s the great news: you choose. If you have an “on-fire” deadline (and depending on the length of your audiobook, 10 hours, as an example), completed production can happen in as little as one week. Some of our clients choose a 60-day production timeline, some choose 6 months, some even choose a full year.
What is ACX?
ACX is also www.ACX.com. It’s the Audiobook Creation Exchange: the Amazon-owned, self-publishing portal that allows book and ebook Rights Holders to search for narrator/producers, oversee the production process, upload and proof audio files, and submit them into the pipeline for sale with the trio of Amazon, Audible and iTunes.
What is my involvement during audiobook production?
As much or as little as you’d like. Some clients love to know every detail of the process, and like to be very hands-on with production. Some clients prefer us to give them a joyful call or email when their audiobook is completed. There are no wrong answers here; EarBliss can work with you excellently at your level of involvement comfort.
What if I already have an audiobook, but my print or ebook now has a revised/updated version?
Perfect. If you already have (or plan to have) a revised book or ebook, you can also have a revised/updated audiobook.
